Drinking and Driving

by: Hai Hu

Driving while drunk is dangerous and drivers with high blood alcohol content or concentration are at greatly increased risk of car accidents, highway injuries and vehicular deaths. In the United State, there are 25,000 people die each year of alcohol related collisions. Federal and State law could enforcement revoking your driver licenses if get drunk and driving, also, impounding your vehicles and vehicle plates. The rate of alcohol related fatalities has increased over the past decade in the United State.

Every single injury and death caused by drunk driving is totally preventable. Even though people pay attention in the proportion of crashes that are alcohol related in recent years, there are still far too many such preventable accidents. Unfortunately, alcohol impaired driving remains a serious national problem that tragically affects many victims every year.

In conclusion, drunk driving fatalities are more devastating because they are one hundred percent avoidable. The accident related fatalities that occurred could have been prevented in a sample way, like took a taxi or called someone drive for you. In some states drivers can be arrested for driving while impaired even if their blood alcohol concentration is lower than the legal limit, if the law enforcement officer believes he has probable cause based on the behavior and reactions of the driver. It's simply not a wise choice to get behind the wheel no matter how much you have had to drink.

Is Technology Good or Bad?

by Daniel Ricciardi

In the past few decades, we have seen technology develop in ways we have never imagined.  We have seen technology go from a original computer that weighed 1,000 lbs, whether you want to take that literally or not, to a Mac. Now technology has gone slim, and light as a feather.  Technology was been made for leisure, but also for good.  The technology that has been developed has done wonders for example in the medical field.  Technology is everywhere, but is it too much?

A few years ago, cell phones were considered the among the top form of technology.  Being able to call someone was from the palm of your hand, where ever you were, felt like the greatest thing on earth.  Now phones are much smaller, and they are rarely used as a phone. Take a second to think, how many phone calls have you made today? Now think, how many text messages have you sent today? Did you update your face book status from your phone or your computer just now?

Technology could be used for good or bad, in all sorts of forms.  There have been studies that technology has lowered kids and teens IQ's.  Whether that is true or not, people are just viewing technology as a bad thing.  Yes,video games, watching TV, and cell phones are addictive, I am addicted to all three, but technology is used for good as well. We take for granted the good things that come out of technology.  The everyday things that we do involve technology.  There are endless possibilities to technology and where it goes from here, it will help others, and make this world a better place.  We as a society need to make sure we use technology for good, for example texting while driving.

"Technology-the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their interrelation with life, society,and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as industrial arts, engineering, applied scienceand pure science."    (dictionary.com)                                                                                                        Technology is here to help, we need to let it.
