Test Driving A Spouse

Idalis Burgos

I was listening to Elvis Duran radio show in the morning on my way to school a few days ago and the topic of that day was the 2 year renewable contract marriages in Mexico.  Surprisingly, many of the callers were opposed to this kind of marriage arrangement.  I have always heard of contract marriages, but what I didn’t know was that somewhere in the world this is actually about to become legal, or the norm even.  If passed, the law is said to help newlyweds avoid the hassle of the tedious process of divorce.  The couples can sign a marriage contract with a minimum of two years with the option to opt out of the marriage after two years.  And I quote, "’the proposal is, when the two-year period is up, if the relationship is not stable or harmonious, the contract simply ends,’ says the bill's co-author, Leonel Luna of the leftist Party of the Democratic Revolution, Reuters reports.”  If a couple wishes not to renew their contract they can walk away scot free, no legal hassle, and no dragged out legal matters.  This makes me wonder what effect this will have on the constitution of marriage.

Growing up, I always imagined getting married to the person that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.  The culture in which I was raised taught me that you marry for love and you spend the rest of your life fighting for that love.  Wedding vowels are to be recited to your partner before family and friends and most importantly, locked and sealed before God.  And you spend the rest of your life compromising and growing in love unless it becomes harmful, dangerous or unfaithful.  If the idea of a renewable marriage contract spreads, why would anyone feel the need to salvage a marriage when in just two years, they can opt out?  In other words, why fix something that can easily be replaced?  Some people already take marriage as a joke and this will only reinforce that kind of careless behavior.
Now, I understand that life doesn’t always work out as planned.  But throughout the course of the radio show, I still could not understand the idea of going into a marriage without the intent of spending the rest of your life with that person.  It just seems like God is being taken out of everything and being replaced with the government and what’s convenient.  The constitution of marriage is based on love, faithfulness and endurance amongst other things.  It seems so superficial, like leasing a car with the option to buy.  In this case, test driving a spouse with the option to renew your marriage contract.  I don’t know.  What do you all think?

Why Marriages Fail ( Not Success )

Marriage should be one of the main event or happy thing in each our life. But today’s society people change to another for to find a better person for their life, because of their marriage relationship all falling apart. Before I going a further to tell why marriage is failing I will tell you what should be a real relationship.

The relationship between a man and a woman, in marriage is possibly the most important and powerful relationship two people can experience. The marriage relationship, as God planned it, has the potential for the greatest experience of intimacy, companionship, partnership, mutual support, protection, pleasure, enjoyment and productivity of any human relationship. A good marriage is a wonderful blessing and an unparalleled treasure for the husband and wife. A strong, growing, loving marriage is also the encouragement environment in which children succeed and grow to be healthy, responsible adults. This Picture should be one example of real marriage .

Nobody wants to fail their marriage. But it takes the effort of both the partners to make a marriage happy and successful one. There can be a lot reasons why a marriage fails.  Some of the reason that which causes that marriage fails are.

  1.  Lack of trust
  2.  Unrealistic expectations (Thinks differently)
  3.  Inability to handle responsibility
  4.  Depending on the spouse for everything
  5. Not having personal happiness (No Sex)
  6. Dripping secrets ( sharing personal information to family members  and friends. cannot keep the secrets or promise)
  7. Lack of communication or understanding with spouse
  8. Money issues
  9. Spending too much time apart from each other
  10. Criticizing and irritating your partner too much, also attitude problems
  11. Not consulting to your partner before any decision. ( Makes their own decision )
  12. Not doing the little things.

These are only a few reasons why marriage fails; there are many other reasons too. Now this problem grows up very fast and globalizes every part of the world now. For example, one of my neighbor divorced for no specific reason. The problems are lack of communication, spending too much time apart from each other, and lack of trust. He is Eye physician and she is sales manager. They both work so hard for to earn money, but less time being together. He told us that when he calls her she not picking the phone, but when he ask her why not picking the phone then she said she is working. He not believing what she saying, he thinks she is lying and cheating on him. There should be a least one verbally fight in week about this incident. In the end the both couple end up in divorce court and finally divorced.

This problem can be easily solve by talk each other while both of them relaxing or when they were going out. but it doesn't happen. So please don’t be make stupid mistake like these people did or anything that I put in top. Marriage should be is one of the happiest moment and happiest thing in our life. Keeps your relationship safely and be love one another. So you don’t have look for another partner for your life, enjoy with what you had...

Socialization

By:NOWU KELLER

Socialization is the process by which we learn from other interact wikth people of different cultures and learn how people think and do in their culture. You receive and get information when you socialize. It leads you to some friends that will be an eye opener in a field that you  are not aware of. Socialization is the process by wich children learn from their parents by learning what their parents do. Socialization begains at a very early age. During early stages of socialization we learn by observing how our parents and or family socialize with society.

     Gender Socialization In Liberia
In Liberia West  Africa, there are two traditional schools, the Sande and Poro Bush. In the Sande Bush girls learn how to take care of their husband, home, children, sing, dance, cook, and braid hair. This is also followed by female genital mutilation, usually a traditional ceremony. Elders argue the procedure is a rite of passage into womanhood. Preparing a girl for marriage, and curbing her sexual appetite and helping to socialize her, But medical studies reveal circumcision causes pain and trauma.

In the Poro Bush , boys learn how to hun, beat drums, dance, and how to be a good husband for their wife or wives. They also learn leadership.

My analysis supports my ideas that this culture is unfair to gender and the socialization of certain parties of society. For example, some kids would go to Sande School at a very young age and would then not remember the things they learned there. I am also opposed to female circumcision, it is cruel and unjust.
In conclusion, socialization of genders differ as we move from one culture to another. For instance, the United States as opposed to Liberia, such acts as circumcision would be met with severe punishments.
