Racism, Racial Stereotypes

Maria Lebron

Racism is the belief  that some races are inherently superior (physically, intellectually, or culturally) to others and therefore have a right to dominate them. In United States racism particularly by whites against black, has created profound racial tension and conflict in virtually all aspects of American society.
When people of different races believing in or supporting such racist views come in contact with each others, they are likely to engage in racist behavior.

Racism is a moral issue and a political issue. The government of the United States should make every effort to insure that each individual are allowed his or hers "inalienable rights" Until we as people learn to see each other through the eyes of God, we will never see one another without fear and prejudice.

In this clip this white man suffers from a disorder but yet still has the nerve to say at least he's not a nigger, point blank ignorant!!

My boyfriend is black and I'm always being called a nigger lover from my neighbor which resulted into bad actions when my boyfriend over heard him. My neighbors are racist and are always put the blame on black people such as; rapes, robberies and murders. They are always talking about how black people are ignorant and have nothing going for themselves, which I totally disagree. I think people should see the bigger picture and realize that it's 2011 and the ignorance needs to stop!

WHY CAN'T WE JUST ALL GET ALONG?

  1. Maria, this is a good post, but I will have to disagree with the racism mainly involving whites against blacks it also could be vice versa. And the ones that are racist against other races are those who are not educated. Usually the ones who speak that way are the ones' who are ignorant, lacking intelligence. So I believe, we have to educate our people and then hopefully racism will eventually disapear.

  2. I agree with Hilary, in the sense that unless the society as a whole can learn about other people's culture and try to look past just the skin color the world can be a happier place. I think you give a great example of how when someone is brought into this world and taught certain ideas to have they continually believe them regardless of their environment. In your second video I am reminded of something we saw in class. There are so many images on television that make society believe things. If someone in a secluded area has no reference point other than television, than they are not getting a full understanding and will think likewise. So, if television could show a more variety of people within different races those secluded people can acknowledge that not everyone are like those on television.

  3. I also agree with all of you because once again this is judging people before you get to know them it just so happen that these particular people are judging a certain race which is not right. Its 2011 as she said get to know somebody's culture or just the person in general before u play the stereotype card on their race. As it was said in class the media does play a big part in this but people need to learn how to open their eyes. Great post maria
