What is Socialization?

By: Subin Mathew

Socialization is the process through which people learn the expectation of society. In other words Socialization is the process by which children and adults learn from others. We begin learning from others during the early days of life; and most people continue their social learning all through life.

Through socialization, people absorb their culture customs, habits, laws, practices and means of expression. Socialization is the basic for identity how one defines oneself. Identity is both personal and social Socialization can establishes personality. Its can persons behavior, feelings, predispositions, and beliefs.

For example, This one is a planned socialization that occurs when other people take actions designed to teach or train others. Pretending the old guy is teaching he wife how to use the computer or show her how to search something in online. The point I am trying to say is this old person take the role to teach another person new things when she do not know how handle the situation.

From my personal experience I know how hard it was using the computer when I came to America first time in life. In India, students do not really need to use the computer to do the work. Such as writing an essay, or finding information on online, etc. When students have work, students write with pensile or pen, or when we need to find more information something then we use different books. But when I came to USA, things are totally different everywhere you go, you must know how to use the computer. I remember the day I sat down chair to learn how to use the computer with my cousin. He showed many impotents things that how to use the computer, how to handle situation by myself when no one is trying to help. The picture is a example how well I know about the computer. I learned by observing and hearing what my cousin say to me.

In my conclusion Socialization is the process by which children and adults learn from others. When we observing others, or listening to others we actually learning. There are many kinds of socialization. Gents/unites of socialization, media and socialization, gender socialization and gender roles, and racial socialization. But everything came down to everyday life so we can create as many good social experiences as possible. This everything actually study of behavior principles in everyday life and no one can change.

Hey!Subin, I agree with your blog because I am also from another country and I had to adapt to a new society. To tell you the truth, it took me til the age of 20 to learn how to use a computer. I've been in this country for 23 years but never took the time to learn the process of using microsoft and explore the internet. I like the fact that you used the animated picture because it fully expresses your expersince in learning how to use new and modern technology.
